Job Summary
The U.S. Consulate General in Lagos seeks eligible and qualified applicants for the Truck Driver position in the General Service Office. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria supports Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEIA). All interested candidates are welcome to apply.
Duties
The Truck Driver will operate various vehicles, including cars, buses, light/medium heavy-duty trucks, and vans, both armored and non-armored. The incumbent will transport customers and cargo to and from the consulate, warehouse, American Embassy Abuja, commercial or residential locations throughout Nigeria, and neighboring countries. The role also includes supervising and assisting in loading and unloading.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements
- Security Clearance Required: Public Trust – Background Investigation
- Education: Completion of Secondary School
- Experience: Minimum of three years of truck driving experience
- Language: Limited knowledge of English, Yoruba, Igbo, or Hausa
- Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to drive heavy-weight vehicles/equipment
- Possession of a class D driver’s license held for at least five years
- Basic numerical skills for overtime, E2 travel, and Roster shift
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites
