Role Overview

As the Team Lead for MasterCard Settlement, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the accurate and timely settlement of MasterCard transactions across various platforms, including POS, ATM, web, and QR. Your role will involve overseeing a team dedicated to MasterCard settlements and managing multiple accounts related to these transactions. Here’s a closer look at what the role entails:

  • Transaction Management: You will be responsible for managing all types of MasterCard transactions, both domestic and international. Ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of these transactions will be central to your role.
  • Team Supervision: Oversee and monitor the performance of the MasterCard settlement team. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining the efficiency and accuracy of all settlement activities.
  • Account Oversight: Manage various MasterCard-related accounts, such as Receivable and Payable Accounts, Cash Disbursement Accounts, and Transaction Suspense Accounts. Regularly review these accounts to ensure proper reconciliation.
  • Procedure Establishment: Develop and enforce settlement procedures for new MasterCard e-products, ensuring they meet FirstBank’s standards and are compatible with industry practices.
  • Daily Operations: Ensure that all files are downloaded from MasterCard Connect daily, with backups properly maintained. Review and verify all settlement entries to uphold process integrity.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Analyze transaction trends and prepare monthly reports to track the performance of MasterCard products. Ensure that global collection transactions are accurately reported to avoid compliance issues.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT, Business Solutions, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to support new initiatives and resolve any settlement-related issues. Engage with card schemes and third-party processors to address exceptions and ensure timely resolutions.
  • Merchant Support: Handle merchant settlement reports and address any complaints or issues promptly. Ensure that all exceptions, including dispense errors and partial dispense transactions, are reconciled and posted without delay.
  • Exchange Rate Monitoring: Monitor the Naira MasterCard exchange rate trends and report any significant variations to the E-business group.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • Educational Background: A 1st Degree in a numerate discipline.
  • Experience: At least 8 years of experience in financial services, with a minimum of 5 years in e-banking or related products.
