Job Summary
The Optometrists at Eye Foundation Hospital will be responsible for examining, diagnosing, treating, and managing disorders of the visual system, eye diseases, and injuries.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform Vision Tests: Conduct and analyze vision tests to assess patients’ sight and detect any issues.
- Promote Eye Health: Counsel patients on maintaining good eye health, including the proper cleaning and use of contact lenses.
- Comprehensive Eye Examination: Use observation, instruments, equipment, and pharmaceutical agents to examine patients’ eyes courteously.
- Department Management: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the optical department, maintaining accurate records of activities.
- Practice Development: Administer, organize, and plan the growth of the practice.
- Patient Communication: Communicate effectively with patients to gather detailed case histories.
- Detect Health Conditions: Identify signs of general health conditions such as hypertension, asthma, ulcer, and diabetes.
- Referral Coordination: Refer patients to ophthalmologists for eye problems beyond the scope of optometry practice.
- Patient Advising: Offer advice and reassurance to patients about vision-related matters.
- Frame and Lens Selection: Assist patients in choosing appropriate frames and lenses.
- Interdisciplinary Liaison: Collaborate with other medical practitioners to manage chronic ophthalmic conditions.
- Sales Targets: Meet sales targets related to spectacles and contact lenses.
- Continuing Education: Engage in continuing education and training (CET).
- Staff Management: Manage staff, including dispensing opticians and clerical personnel, and train junior staff.
- Retail Management: Oversee the retail aspects of spectacles, contact lenses, and other vision care products.
- Community Outreach: Participate in outreach programs to ensure consumables are available and on time, coordinating with team members for camp/hospital operations.
Qualifications
- Education: Doctor of Optometry from a reputable institution.
- License: Valid practicing license.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in optometry.
