Objectives
The primary objectives for the Lead, Property Law include:
- Ensuring all activities conform to NEPL’s processes and procedures, aligned with legal standards and regulations.
- Protecting NEPL’s interests in all property transactions.
- Conducting due diligence on NEPL landed properties.
- Supervising and supporting the validation of legal documentation for NEPL landed properties, ensuring they are free from encumbrances.
Key Responsibilities
The Lead, Property Law will have a range of critical duties, including:
- Legal Opinions and Advising
- Provide legal opinions on litigation and property issues to the Manager of Litigation & Property Law.
- Advise the General Counsel on contingent liabilities related to litigation issues.
- Negotiations and Agreements
- Negotiate land agreements on behalf of NEPL based on directives from the Manager, Litigation and Property Law.
- Performance and Supervision
- Identify and recommend solutions for performance gaps in direct reports.
- Supervise direct reports to ensure they perform their duties adequately.
- Ensure regular capacity development of direct reports through coaching and other learning methods.
- Reporting and Documentation
- Provide timely and regular reports on the activities of the Manager, Litigation and Property Law.
Educational Qualifications
Candidates must meet the following educational qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Law.
- Barrister at Law (BL) qualification and must be called to the bar.
- A Master’s in Law or other relevant post-graduate degree or professional qualification is an added advantage.
