MTN Nigeria Communications Plc is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Manager – Integration in their Information Technology division. This role is based in Ikoyi, Lagos, and reports to the Senior Manager – IT Engineering. The position is designed for an experienced professional with a strong background in software development, API integration, and IT management within a telecom environment.
Key Responsibilities
The Manager – Integration will be responsible for a range of critical tasks aimed at ensuring efficient and reliable IT operations within MTN Nigeria. These responsibilities include:
- Business Requirement Analysis and Design: Ensuring that new business requirements are thoroughly analyzed and designed for effective implementation.
- Vendor Engagement: Regular interactions with vendors to review and enhance all APIs exposed both internally and externally.
- MMIL Availability: Maintaining a high availability of 99.8% for MMIL (Mobile Money Integration Layer).
- API Optimization: Regular optimization of APIs to ensure a response time of less than one second and continuous monitoring of response times to identify areas for improvement.
- Documentation and Redundancy Testing: Maintaining detailed documentation for all architectural designs, configurations, and implementations, and performing annual redundancy testing for key microservices.
- Testing and Automation: Conducting internal test automation, load and performance testing, security testing, application monitoring, and internal acceptance testing.
- Proactive Monitoring and Issue Resolution: Embedding machine learning in error analysis to automate monitoring and proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Security and Resilience: Ensuring that all deployed solutions are resilient to potential security threats through the adoption of a security-by-design approach.
- Service Delivery and Business Agility: Measuring and improving service delivery and business agility by providing set KPIs on microservice stability.
- Scalability and Cloud Readiness: Developing applications to be scalable, flexible, and cloud-ready, with capabilities for ad-hoc reporting and transaction statistics.
- Performance Appraisals: Reviewing the performance of individual team members and conducting appraisals in line with the company’s procedures and schedules.
Educational and Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate should possess:
- A first degree in Electrical/Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Fluency in English.
- 6 to 13 years of experience in the field, including:
- 5 years of managing development teams.
- 5 years of handling high-demand pipelines in a telecom environment.
- 7 years of direct experience in software development, integration, and API writing.
