Role Overview
The Data Governance Associate will play a critical role in supporting and implementing FirstBank’s data governance program. You will work across enterprise and departmental levels to operationalize data governance strategies, ensuring that data management standards are consistently applied and continuously improved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Data Governance Program: Assist in managing the overall data governance program at both the enterprise and departmental levels. Your role will be crucial in ensuring the alignment of data governance practices with organizational goals.
- Implement Strategic Plans: Operationalize the strategic and tactical plans for data governance. This includes implementing data governance standards, policies, procedures, and usage guidelines across the bank.
- Facilitate Best Practices: Promote the adoption of data governance best practices through regular communication, such as flyers and internal updates, to foster a culture of data excellence.
- Monitor Metrics: Define, monitor, and report on enterprise data governance metrics for key data domains. This will involve tracking performance and ensuring compliance with data governance standards.
- Serve as SME: Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned data governance activities and issues. Provide guidance and support on data governance matters to ensure effective management.
- Change Management: Assess the impact of changes on people, processes, and systems. Develop and implement communication and awareness initiatives to support the smooth execution of changes.
- Process Improvement: Review and respond to queries on data governance matters. Perform process reviews related to data quality and provide recommendations for improvements to enhance business processes.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure the consistent implementation of data governance policies and standards across various business areas.
- Collaborate with CDO Office: Work closely with other teams within the Chief Data Office (CDO) to ensure a unified approach to data governance issues and initiatives.
- Additional Duties: Participate in group activities and perform other related duties as assigned to support the data governance program.
What We’re Looking For
To thrive in this role, you should have:
- Educational Background: A high school diploma is required. Additional qualifications in data management or a related field would be advantageous.
- Experience: Relevant work experience in data governance or data management roles is preferred. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders and manage data-related processes is essential.
