Job Summary: The Environmental & Social Economist Officer is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s projects and operations comply with environmental regulations and social standards.
This includes assessing impacts, developing and implementing mitigation strategies, and monitoring compliance to promote sustainability and positive social outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Environmental Audits: Carry out environmental audits for workplaces and submit the necessary reports.
- Impact Assessments: Conduct and submit Environmental Impact Assessment reports for new projects.
- Inspections: Perform inspections on environmentally sensitive workplaces.
- Monitoring: Conduct environmental monitoring for new and ongoing projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Organize and conduct stakeholder awareness forums.
- Staff Training: Facilitate environmental exchange forums and training sessions for staff.
- Campaigns: Lead environmental and social awareness campaigns and training sessions.
Person Specifications
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences or a related field from a recognized institution is required.
