Job Summary
The Cashier will be responsible for handling payments made by cash, cheque, direct transfers, or vouchers. This role involves issuing receipts, giving change when necessary, posting payments received into the appropriate entry books, and balancing the books at the end of each business day.
Key Responsibilities
- Payment Handling: Receive and confirm bills for patients on the system, ensuring accuracy before collecting payment.
- Cash Verification: Ensure the appropriate amount is paid by verifying the cash received from the patient.
- Cheque Handling: Confirm the bill amount and obtain the Consultant’s approval before collecting cheques.
- Direct Transfers and POS Transactions: Confirm and approve transactions before issuing receipts.
- Receipt Issuance: Issue receipts only after payment is made.
- Transaction Posting: Post transactions into QuickBooks accurately.
- Daily Balancing: Balance transactions at the end of the day with the Accountant/Auditor and report signed by both parties on the cash to be lodged.
- Corporate Bills: Summarize corporate bills daily, weekly, and monthly.
- Report Preparation: Prepare weekly and monthly reports, post journals, and update ledgers.
- Additional Duties: Perform any other duties as assigned by your supervisor, manager, and the Medical Director.
Qualifications
- Education: Minimum of an OND, preferably in Accounting.
- Experience: At least 2 years in a cashiering role.
- Skills: Must be familiar with accounting software and proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
