Job Summary: The Property Officer is responsible for acquiring landed property, securing company rights and interests, managing property inventory, and ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations.
The role involves overseeing the acquisition, maintenance, and leasing of property assets to ensure optimal use and alignment with organizational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Due Diligence and Compliance: Conduct due diligence and searches, liaise with the Land Registry, County Governments, and other relevant bodies to gather necessary information on properties.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, and performance set in respective legal instruments.
- Rent Management: Collect and reconcile rent accounts, conduct rental assessments, market surveys, and feasibility studies.
- Property Assessment: Measure lettable and common area spaces, address discrepancies, and assess the suitability of land and buildings.
- Rate Reconciliation: Reconcile land rates and rent statements with relevant National and County government departments.
- Inspection and Maintenance: Conduct periodic inspections of premises, initiate corrective actions on unmet landlord/tenant obligations.
- Land Acquisition: Participate in the acquisition of land and buildings through allocations, leasing, and outright purchase.
- Document Management: Ensure the safe custody of property documents and records.
Person Specifications
- Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Land Economics, Real Estate, or a related field from a recognized institution is required.
