The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is currently recruiting for the position of Lead Counsel, Management Secretariat. Objectives

The primary objective of the Lead Counsel, Management Secretariat is to:

  • Ensure quality and efficient corporate secretarial services for NNPC’s Senior Management.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for the Registry.

Key Responsibilities

The Lead Counsel will be responsible for a variety of tasks to support NNPC’s management, including:

  1. Corporate Secretarial Matters
    • Supervise all corporate secretarial activities for management meetings.
    • Record and prepare/review minutes of senior management meetings, ensuring the generation of actionable points and addressing matters arising.
    • Review the agenda for management meetings.
    • Review notices of management meetings.
    • Offer legal opinions on relevant issues.
  2. Feedback and Performance Management
    • Provide regular, formal, and informal feedback on the performance gaps of direct reports and suggest appropriate solutions.
  3. Reporting
    • Deliver timely and high-quality reports on the activities of the Unit.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • A university degree in Law.
  • Barrister at Law (BL) qualification is mandatory.
  • Professional qualifications and membership in relevant professional bodies such as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) are required.

Experience

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A minimum of 9 years of relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Experience in the oil and gas industry, which will be an added advantage.
